Tutoring

Homework

Tutoring services are intended to help students understand concepts they find difficult, it is not designed or intended to do a student’s work for them. Tutors will not do homework problems for students, but they will help students understand their work using homework problems provided by the students.

Exams & Projects

Tutors are not allowed to do, be present for, or help students take exams or do exam grade projects.

Tutors may help students understand what they got wrong after the test is over or make corrections on an exam.

Tutors may also answer abstract questions pertaining to exam grade projects or demonstrate a concept on a similar problem.

University Courses

Tutors do not have access to problem set solutions nor do they know how your professor presented material.

Always attempt to get specific help from your professors during office hours or arrange time with the TA before engaging a tutor.

Tutors assisting with university coursework will help cement understanding of basic concepts, but may not be able to fully help with homework in a timely manner.

Academic Dishonesty

If tutors find out about academic dishonesty, they are obligated to report said infraction to the student’s teacher/ professor/ testing board.

Students who attempt to trick tutors into doing exams or important graded work will no longer be served by STEM 911.

Requests for assistance on exams and requests made intending academic dishonesty will be denied.
